Lisette Coates, originally from Canada, currently resides and creates in the Northern Beaches of Sydney, Australia. Prior to her move, Lisette balanced a full-time animation career with exhibiting her sculptures, in various Vancouver shows. Her academic background includes a Bachelor of Fine Arts with Honours from the Winchester School of Art and a Diploma from the St Martins College of Art and Design in the UK.
Lisette's current focus lies in digital painting and illustration. Her art is defined by the vibrant simplicity of line and color with recurring themes that capture the joy found in observing everyday life and nature. Inspiration for her work draws from artists such as Mary Blair, Alexander Calder, Charley Harper, and the illustration and design of the 1950s and 1960s.
