Creative Open Workshops

Northern Beaches Creative Open

Arts and Sustainability

The Imaginer Gallery will be participating in Creative Open with workshops focussing on sustainability, energy and art!
Running over the Creative Open weekend of Saturday 27th July  and Sunday 28th July join us for workshops designed for kids and adults.

Connecting with the founder and artists of "Renewable Manilla" who created artworks during the Renewable Manilla festival (March 2024), works and artists will travel to Manly for Creative Open to offer a program of workshops and events including a giant sun sculpture, solar lanterns and mending circles. From Beach to bush, Manilla to Manly will create space for rural Australia to connect with the city through art and fun.

On Saturday 27th of July at 10am, join Emma Stilts in creating solar powered flower lanterns and re-use old scraps to design stunning badges! Materials are rescued from the bin. Enjoy some time making beautiful paper flowers.

Suitable for all ages. Small children need to be supervised.

On Sunday 28th July at 10am, meet creative designers High Tea with Mrs Woo to learn the contemporary practice of mending broken clothes by kintsugi.

Borrowing from the Japanese art of repairing broken pottery with gold alloy, this workshop shows you how to practice kintsugi for clothing as a way to cherish and extend the life of your loved garments by visible mending with gold threads. This workshop is not aimed at teaching a perfect craft. It is to explore kintsugi for clothing as an applied, philosophical practice to inspire a better, slower approach to life. It provides a space for you to make an action, to spend time with your clothes in the company of others, to explore the values and expressions of new and old clothing, and what it means to care for them.

Workshops will be held in the front room of BoneMade (the old Imaginer Gallery) at 105 Sydney Rd, Manly.
